Show historyThe Montreal Motorcycle Show and the Quebec City Motorcycle and ATV Show are the property of the Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council (MMIC), which has entrusted their management exclusively to ExpoMAX Canada Inc. ExpoMAX is responsible for the production and promotion of these two shows. Our expertise in general and specifically has been focused on motor sports since the mid-1970s. Over time, the Montreal Motorcycle Show and the Quebec City Motorcycle and ATV Show have become the venues of choice among both the riders and the motorcycle industry in Quebec. At present, the Montreal Motorcycle Show is one of the largest in Canada in terms of paid and audited attendance and ranks among the most significant motorcycle shows in North America. By virtue of their targeted effort and constant renewal, these two events are also among the most prestigious motorcycle shows in Canada in terms of features, presentation of new vehicles and launch of related products. The Quebec City Motorcycle and ATV Show has enjoyed a pattern of vibrant growth in that city since its debut in the early 1980s. This show plays a key role in the motorcycle world and generates major economic benefits over a large part of the province thanks to its reach, its influence and its impact. The Montreal Motorcycle Show has been presented at the Montreal Convention Centre since 1983. It was previously held at the Velodrome in Olympic Park. A must-see for motorcyclists, it enjoys a massive audience. It has always ranked among the best-attended motorcycle shows in Canada. Motorcycle show visitors in Montreal and Quebec City are renowned for their passion and enthusiasm for the sport. Show visitors in Montreal come mainly from the metropolitan region and surrounding area, while the Quebec City show draws from a massive geographical area that includes Gaspé and the north shore, Charlevoix and Saguenay/Lac St-Jean. Together, the two shows represent a clientele drawn from all over Quebec, from eastern Ontario and potentially from adjacent states in the U.S. Moreover, the huge attendance created by these two shows draws public interest across a broad spectrum. They have a major influence on motorcyclists and key players in the motorcycle industry and are without doubt the perfect platform to enhance the image and promote the use of motorcycles. In line with the nature of the industry, our typical showgoer is a 46-year-old male. He's also an opinion leader who is frequently consulted, well noticed and generally listened to. Given their timing in February, at the beginning of the sales season, and by the very nature of their clientele, the two shows inject a strong stimulus to the Quebec market and play a key role in the balance of this complex market. For example, it's worth noting that 26% of motorcycle sales in Canada take place in Quebec. In the scooter market, Quebec is dominant with 45% of all sales in the country. We are also in the lead in ATV sales, with 29% of the Canadian market in 2009. These figures emphasize the strength of the market in Quebec, given that the province accounts for 23.2% of the population of Canada. This year, the shows will again play a major role in launching the motorcycle season in Quebec. For our visitors, for more than 30 years, they are a major social "happening" that's not to be missed. |
